Saves Those Without Access to Clean Drinking Water
More than a billion people don't have reliable access to clean drinking water.
Boiling kills most germs in water, but requires fuel and doesn't remove dirt.
In recent years, sand and ceramic filters have become more common, but these
tend to be more expensive and usually don't catch all the microbes.
So many of the poor worldwide simply drink dirty water.
As a result,
about 1.5 million children die of diarrhea each year.

a year.
The family version - which looks something like an IV drip that ends in a water
cannon - can purify 18,000 liters, serving a typical family for about three
years.
Until now these filters have mainly been given away through aid groups aftersuch
disasters like the Haitian earthquake and in chronically poor countries like
Mozambique and Myanmar.
Nearly a million of the family-size LifeStraw have been donated in Kenya alone
this year. In exchange, the company will receive carbon credits for reduced
emissions from wood-burning fires often used to boil water.
The personal LifeStraw entered the market as a consumer product last week in
North America, and a new version of the family purifier will be sold next year
in India.
Meanwhile, LifeStraw creators are working on something that might be considered
designer water for the poor: a filter that dispenses clean water fortified with
zinc.

Most Americans

described the potential consequences of an EMP attack….
No American would
necessarily die in the initial attack, but what comes next is potentially catastrophic.
The pulse would wipe out most electronics and telecommunications, including

starvation since farmers wouldn’t be able to harvest crops and distributors
wouldn’t be able to get food to supermarkets. Commissioner Lowell Wood
calls EMP attack a “giant continental time machine” that would move
us back more than a century in technology to the late 1800s. It wouldn’t
be so bad if we had the knowledge and the infrastructure to live the way that
they did back in the 1800s, but today that is simply not the case. Dr. William
Graham was Ronald Reagan’s science adviser and the chairman of the Commission
to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack.
Dr. Graham believes that in the event of a large scale EMP attack, the vast
majority of Americans would either freeze, starve or die from disease. According
to Graham, in the aftermath of an EMP attack life in America “would probably
be something that you might imagine life to be like around the late 1800s but
with several times the population we had in those days, and without the ability
of the country to support and sustain all those people.”

This is the danger of having a financial system that is so dependent on technology.
We may wake up one day and find that all the money is gone. But if an EMP attack

The president of the Center for Security Policy, Frank Gaffney, is convinced
that a single EMP attack could result in the deaths of the vast majority of
the population of the United States….

because we can’t support a population of the present size in urban centers

United States Senate Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security

Russian and Chinese
military scientists in open source writings describe the basic principles of
nuclear weapons designed specifically to generate an enhanced-EMP effect, that
they term “Super-EMP” weapons.
“Super-EMP” weapons, according to these foreign open source writings,
can destroy even the best protected U.S. military and civilian electronic systems.
But it is not just Russia and China that have been developing “Super-EMP”
weapons. According to Newsmax, it is believed that North Korea may have tested
a “Super-EMP” weapon back in 2009….
North Korea’s
last round of tests, conducted in May 2009, appear to have included a “super-EMP”
weapon, capable of emitting enough gamma rays to disable the electric power
grid across most of the lower 48 states
Remember, all it would take is one strategically placed EMP attack

So if the government is not going to do anything about it, that means that it

Power Outage Emergency
If a power outage lasts for longer than 2
hours, follow the guidelines below:
For the Freezer section: A freezer that is half full will hold food safely for
up to 24 hours. A full freezer will hold food safely for 48 hours. Do not open
the freezer door if you can avoid it. For the Refrigerated section: Pack milk,
other dairy products, meat, fish, eggs, gravy, and spoilable leftovers into
a cooler surrounded by ice. Inexpensive Styrofoam coolers are fine for this
purpose. Use a food thermometer to check the temperature of your food right
before you cook or eat it. Throw away any food that has a temperature of more
than 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

EARTH QUAKES
An
earthquake is the shaking and vibration of the surface of the earth caused by
underground movement along an earthquake fault. Earthquake magnitude is measured
using the Richter scale.There is no accepted method to predict earthquakes,
however, some regions are more prone to earthquakes than others due to their
location in proximately to earthquake faults.Unlike other countries such as
Japan, New Zealand and Indonesia, Australia does not lie in close proximity
to a tectonic plate boundary where large earthquakes can occur. However, communities
in Australia can still experience damaging and deadly earthquakes. For example,
the Newcastle 1989 earthquake in which 13 people died and a further 160 were
injured. This earthquake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale.Be Prepared
Know your local area, particularly if there is a history of earthquakes.
Have an emergency kit and plan. Ensure the kit contains a battery operated radio,
torch and spare batteries.
Keep a list of emergency numbers handy. If an earthquake occurs If inside DROP
COVER and HOLD ON Take cover under a sturdy desk, table or bench, or against
an inside wall and hold on.
If there is no desk or table near you, cover your face and head with your arms
and crouch in an inside corner of the building.
Stay away from glass, windows, outside doors and walls, and anything that could
fall, such as lighting fixtures and furniture.
If you are in bed when an earthquake strikes stay there. Hold on and protect
your head with a pillow, unless you are under a heavy light fixture. In that
case, move to the nearest safe place.
Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside. Most injuries
during earthquakes occur when people are hit by falling objects while entering
or leaving buildings.
Be aware that electricity may go out.
Do not use elevators. If you are outdoors: Stay there
Move away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and powerlines
If in a vehicle:
Stop in an open area and listen to your car radio for adviceAfter an EarthquakeExpect

Keep your radio tuned to local media
Keep an active watch for hazards and check for injuries or damage

Take numerous photographs of all damage for insurance

are a series of waves generated by any of the following:
Vertical movement of the sea floor as the result of a
large earthquake
Submarine or coastal volcanic eruptions
Meteor impacts
Coastal landslides and slumps, either land-based or submarineThe coast of Victoria
has been affected by tsunami before. The largest tsunami to affect Victoria
in recent times occurred in May 1960 after a 9.5 magnitude earthquake in Chile.
The following quote provides some indication of the effects of the tsunami on
the Victorian coastline.“Salmon spotting pilot Dick Ritchie yesterday saw
Three Mile Beach, Wilson’s Promontory “disappear” while he was
flying over it. ‘I usually land on this beach – but it seemed to be
under several feet of water’ he said. ‘ But inside a minute and a
half while I flew over it, the water rushed 200 yards out. I first noticed it
at 11am. The whole coastal area was disturbed for most of the day. I saw a lagoon
nearly a mile by half a mile wide near Port Albany empty one minute, completely
full the next, then empty again. Swirling sand and weeds were everywhere. I
thought I was seeing things’ The Lakes Entrance Harbour Master said the
freak tides had turned the lakes northern arm into a “vacuum”. He
said the Lakes Entrance old timers described it as the fastest moving tide in
memory. ‘Water came rushing in at a terrific rate – then bored out
just as fast’ he said. ‘It gouged three feet of sand away from the
pier piles. Marine growth on the bottom was ripped out, and travelled along

service for Australia. The Bureau of Meteorology and Geoscience Australia operate
the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning CentreFor the latest tsunami warnings call
1300TSUNAMI (1300 878 6264) or visit the Bureau’s website www.bom.gov.au/tsunamiMarine
and immediate foreshore threat Depending on the level of threat determined by
the Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre the Bureau of Meteorology may issue
a tsunami warning (via the radio, television, 1300TSUNAMI, or the Bureau’s
website www.bom.gov.au/tsunami) restricted to the marine environment and immediate
foreshore area for parts of the Victorian coastline. You will be advised to:
Get out of the water and move away from the immediate waters’s edge of
harbours, coastal estuaries, rock platforms and beaches.
Return any boats in harbours, estuaries and in shallow coastal water to shore,
then secure your boat and move away from the waterfront.
Move vessels already at sea to deep water well offshore and remain there until
further advised.
Don’t go to the coast or headlands to watch the tsunami.
Listen to the media for further information and follow the advice of emergency
services.

there is a possibility of more serious inundation of coastal land, the Joint
Australian Tsunami Warning Centre may extend the tsunami warning for the marine
environment and immediate foreshore to a tsunami warning for more extensive
land inundation. Advice on the appropriate response is determined in consultation
with VICSES. If necessary the evacuation of low-lying coastal areas may be required.
You will be advised to:Take only essential items that you can carry including
important papers, family photographs and medical needs.
Go to higher ground or inland. Move away from all beaches and the water’s
edge of harbours and coastal estuaries.
Walk to safety if possible to avoid traffic jams.
Take shelter in the upper storey of a sturdy brick or concrete multi-storey

Courier Mail: MORE than 1200 SES volunteers f rom across Australia have
helped to rebuild parts of North Queensland in the wake of category five Cyclone
Yasi.
A fortnight since the disaster, 362 SES members remain in the area, 110 from
Queensland and the rest from interstate.Emergency Management Queensland assistant
director-general Bruce Grady said the crews responded to 7274 requests for assistance,
completing 6649 of them.An incredible 2430 logged jobs were for temporary roof
repairs and just 179 remain outstanding.``Our SES volunteers are among the first
in and last out when disaster strikes,’’ Mr Grady said.` `The work
they have been doing goes such a long way in preparing the community for rebuilding
and also moving on. ``Just the appearance of the orange overalls is enough to
buoy the community.’’
There
are massive frauds perpetrated against Americans in the real estate market.
There is also massive fraud, done by banksters, in the fraudulent derivatives

One thing weighing on the economy is the huge number of foreclosed houses.
Many are stuck on the market for a reason you wouldn’t expect: banks can’t
find the ownership documents. Who really owns your mortgage?

It’s bizarre but, it turns out, Wall Street cut corners when it created
those mortgage-backed investments that triggered the financial collapse. Now
that banks want to evict people, they’re unwinding these exotic investments
to find, that often, the legal documents behind the mortgages aren’t there.
Caught in a jam of their own making, some companies appear to be resorting to
forgery and phony paperwork to throw people – down on their luck –
out of their homes. In the 1930s we had breadlines; venture out before dawn
in America today and you’ll find mortgage lines. This past January in Los
Angeles, 37,000 homeowners facing foreclosure showed up to an event to beg their
bank for lower payments on their mortgage. Some people even slept on the sidewalk
to get in line. So many in the country are desperate now that they have to meet
in convention centers coast to coast. In February in Miami, 12,000 people showed
up to a similar event. The line went down the block and doubled back twice.

shook across the region and in Tokyo the quake was felt for as long as a minute.
The strong aftershock cut electricity in some northern towns, including at the
Onagawa nuclear plant. Workers at the stricken Fukushima plant were also evacuated
but they have since reported no new problems.Local police said there were many
emergency calls about injured people, fires and gas leaks.The National Police
Agency says seven people have been reported injured so far in Iwate, Akita,
Yamagata and Fukushima prefectures.Today marks four weeks since a massive 9.0
quake and subsequent tsunami savaged Japan's north, killing 12,608 people with
a further 15,073 listed as missing.Nearly 160,000 people are still sheltered
in emergency facilities.The evacuation order at the Fukushima plant came less

engineers were concerned a build-up of hydrogen might react with oxygen to cause

SAGE HEALTH BENEFITS
Sage,
originally from the Mediterranean regions, now grows around the world in more
than 2000 species. Israel alone has 24 different species of the plant.
It has been cultivated to flavor foods and for its many medicinal properties—among
them, use as an astringent, stimulant, nervine agent, diuretic, expectorant,
memory booster, anxiety reliever, anti-microbial, and as an antioxidant.
It will also ease joint pain, menopausal symptoms, abdominal troubles, sore
throat, mouth ulcers, cuts, sprains, swelling, and impaired digestion.
Applications
Teas and Infusions
Tea of equal parts sage and chamomile makes a good mouth rinse for mouth sores,
mouth ulcers, and a great gargle for sore throats.
Mixing equal parts of sage tea and apple cider vinegar with 1 teaspoon sea salt
is used for gargling.
Soaking a cloth in hot sage tea makes a great compress. Applied to the head,
it can relieve headaches. Placed on the abdomen, it can ease cramps, gas, and
general intestinal and digestive discomforts. Wrapping a compress around strains
and sprains reduces swelling and discomfort.
Applied to insect bites, it can reduce itching and swelling.
A cold infusion of sage, without lemon and sugar, can be used as a lotion for
skin abrasions and ulcers.
It has also been used to color hair, like henna, when used over the whole head
and scalp.
And taken internally, it can keep the hair from graying.
An infusion of sage can boost the memory and stimulate or alert the senses.
After taking sage tea, there is some warming sensation in the body.
Fresh leaves and or small twigs
Chewing fresh leaves can freshen the breath. Chewing the twig ends will prepare
them for use as a primitive toothbrush, and rubbing the gums can strengthen
them.
Using this toothbrush can prevent cavities naturally without the harmful side
effects of fluoride.
Dried leaf powder and oil
A poultice of sage powder applied to joints relieves pain.
One
to three drops of sage oil can be used to break up accumulated mucous and as
an expectorant to expel it from the respiratory tract.
It can be used as an aromatherapy in lung disorders and sinusitis.
Crush the leaves with your fingers and place in boiling water in a wide pan.
Inhale the vapors to obtain the benefits for your upper respiratory tract.
The strained tea can also be used in vaporizers for inhalation.
Sage oil in excess has the ability to bring on seizures, like that of nutmeg
and absinthe essential oils.
Intoxication and giddiness follow if it is smelled for too long a time.
Digestive System
Used as a condiment, sage can stimulate the appetite in those with indigestion.
It can relieve liver disorders, typhoid fever, excess bile secretions, and bleeding

Cold sage tea can be used to stop night sweats during menopause.

This suggests that sage may have some estrogenic biochemical.
Cold tea of sage used by a mother while weaning her child can help stop the

Don’t take cold tea while nursing as it may interfere with milk production.
Used during the post-partum period, it may help with discharging the lochia

Sage has been used as a diuretic and as treatment for bladder and kidney infections
and other disorders such as renal calculi.

Tests were conducted on 44 people to see if there was a significant difference

This Portable Solar Power System can be carried during events where high power,
high energy density, and minimal weight are critical.
The system can provide power for a variety of portable electronic devices that
collectively require 12 volts DC up to 100 amps/1250 watts, 120 volts AC up
to 1250 watts, and can recharge itself in sunlight using the included solar
panels.
If the power
draw of your electronic device is 200 watts, the battery will last 6.4 hours,
in the absence of incoming solar power, before it must be recharged.
The system is controlled by a 120-amp main circuit breaker that also acts as
a main on-off switch.
The battery assembly, protective circuitry boards, solar charge controller,
power inverter, battery monitor, wiring, power distribution, breaker block,
and accessories are housed inside a waterproof, dustproof, crushproof protective
hard case.
