five-year study by the Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice
on crime statistics in Newark, N.J. found residential burglar
alarms decrease crime. "The Impact of Home Burglar Alarm
Systems on Residential Burglaries" found an installed burglar
alarm makes a dwelling less attractive to the would-be intruder
and protects the home without displacing burglaries to nearby
homes. This is the first study to focus on alarm systems while
scientifically ruling out other factors that could have impacted

Many
people ask why power-line automation is different to systems
like Dynalite, C-BUS etc. These systems run CAT5 from
each wall plate to a central cluster of lighting control
relays. With the 240AC wiring we use the existing electrical
wires to achieve the same thing. Digital packets of information
are sent down the AC wire just like data is sent down
CAT5 wire by a computer. In this way the entire house
electrical system becomes an Automation-BUS and devices
scattered around the home are controlled by commands over
the 240VAC wiring. These days it is highly reliable and
fast and as functional. It
saves time and money and enables a complete retrofit as
well.
